The Threads Lab proudly congratulates Katarina Ost, a PhD candidate in Epidemiology at uOttawa, on earning two well-deserved recognitions!

🎓 Canadian One Health Training Program for Emerging Zoonoses (COHTPEZ)
Katarina has been selected to join the first cohort of the Canadian One Health Training Program for Emerging Zoonoses (COHTPEZ). Through this program, she will receive specialized training on emerging zoonoses using a One Health approach and participate in the One Health AMR & Emerging Zoonoses Conference.
The COHTPEZ aims to establish a collaborative network of researchers, professionals, and leaders with diverse expertise in health research related to emerging zoonotic diseases, following a One Health approach. A pan-Canadian team of experts from six universities leads this initiative, focusing on three priority areas: (1) Health, disease, and sustainability, (2) Disease prevention, and (3) Disease preparedness and response.
🏆 School of Epidemiology and Public Health Research Day Award
Katarina was also awarded Best 12-Minute Presentation at the University of Ottawa’s School of Epidemiology and Public Health Annual Research Day in January 2025. Her presentation, "Reducing tick density along recreational trails in Ottawa, Canada: preliminary results from an ecotone modification study using treated and untreated woodchips," shared important findings on tick population control strategies.
